Accreditation Liaison Officer Policy

A revised version of the Accreditation Liaison Officer Policy was approved by the Commission during its June 2018 Meeting.

The Accreditation Liaison Officer Policy has been updated after receiving multiple comments from the region including ALOs during a session at the April 2018 Academic Resource Conference. Revisions clarify expectations about the appointment of the ALO, communication with WSCUC, and the ALO’s roles and responsibilities.

Dual Degrees Policy

A revised version of the Dual Degrees Policy was approved by the Commission during its June 2018 Meeting. A dual degree program is defined as a program of study offered collaboratively by two institutions that lead to the award of a separate degree from each of the participating institutions.

The policy has been revised to align it with the June 2017 revised Substantive Change policy and manual. Specifically, this policy now makes clear that institutions seeking new dual degrees are required to undergo review through the Substantive Change process, in accordance with Substantive Change policy. The revised policy also now addresses dual enrollments with high schools within the region.

Joint Degrees Policy

At its June 2018 meeting, the Commission also approved a revised Joint Degrees Policy. A joint degree program is one in which a program is offered collaboratively by two or more accredited institutions and leads to the award of a single degree issued jointly by participating institutions.

The Joint Degrees Policy was revised for similar reasons to the revisions of the Dual Degrees Policy to align it with the June 2017 revised Substantive Change policy and manual and ensure clarity that new joint degrees require Substantive Change review.
